چکیده

In this article, a computational platform is presented, entitled “Dance-the-Music”, that can be used in a dance educational context to explore and learn the basics of dance steps. By introducing a method based on spatiotemporal motion templates, the platform facilitates to train basic step models from sequentially repeated dance figures performed by a dance teacher. Movements are captured with an optical motion capture system. The teachers’ models can be visualized from a first-person perspective to instruct students how to perform the specific dance steps in the correct manner. Moreover, recognition algorithms-based on a template matching method-can determine the quality of a student’s performance in real time by means of multimodal monitoring techniques. The results of an evaluation study suggest that the Dance-the-Music is effective in helping dance students to master the basics of dance figures.

Background: MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), which is also known as Ecstasy or Molly, is a commonly found abusive agent in Hong Kong. MDMA abuse is widely reported in electronic dance music (EDM) festivals all over the world. It brings about uncommon mortality and serious morbidity with recreational use, which are believed to be related to serotonin toxicity. Cyproheptadine has anti-hi...

A parameterizable spatiotemporal representation of popular dance styles for humanoid dancing characters

Dance movements are a complex class of human behavior which convey forms of non-verbal and subjective communication that are performed as cultural vocabularies in all human cultures. The singularity of dance forms imposes fascinating challenges to computer animation and robotics, which in turn presents outstanding opportunities to deepen our understanding about the phenomenon of dance by means ...

Delayed Skip Connections for Music Content Driven Motion Generation

In this study, we employ skip connections into a deep recurrent neural network for modeling basic dance steps using audio as input. Our model consists of two blocks, one encodes the audio input sequences, and another generates the motion. The encoder uses a configuration called convolutional, long short-term memory deep neural network (CLDNN) which handle the power features of audio. Furthermor...

Automatic Processing of Dance Dance Revolution

The video game Dance Dance Revolution is a musicbased game of timing. The game plays music and shows patterns of arrows synchronized with the music. The player stands on a platform marked with the same four arrows shown in the game and earns a score based on how closely his steps match the timing of the video game. A pattern of steps for a given song is called a step chart, and each step chart ...
